Hackathon 2007 Ideas

This page is for a listing of items that will potentially be worked on during the 2007 Hackathon. Right now this is a listing of ideas, and not plans for what will be accomplished.

The attendees will work on whatever they want to work on, so there is no guarantee any of this will be done. It's just a list of things we're considering, or would like to see.

Speed ARP page load time

ARP page in large networks can take forever to load, or fail to load

Speed VLAN page load times

It takes ages to add VLAN's.

Syslog

ability to use multiple syslog servers simultaneously

Traffic Shaper

Traffic shaper re-write (integrating with firewall rules)

IPsec

Allow multiple subnets per tunnel
NAT-T support
Support everything ipsec-tools supports (xauth, etc.)
support for dynamic endpoints

DHCP Relay

allow multiple servers to be entered in DHCP relay

FTP

Multi-WAN FTP capabilities

Packages proxy ability

ability to use proxy for packages

XMLRPC Sync

Merge features from HEAD, ability to choose username, protocol, port, master sync to all devices (rather than chaining), etc.

DynDNS

OPT WAN dynamic DNS support
Use of SSL supported for updates?
ability to add multiple records/accounts

OpenVPN

Everything, or some of the things from the OpenVPNWishlist would be nice to see:

Some or all of the features in Zerina ported to pfSense:

EVDO / 3G / dial up modem support

Support for EVDO and 3G wireless, as well as dial up modem support.

Centralized management

Centralized management app for pushing out firmware updates, checking on system status, etc - may evolve into more (BillM)
