Troubleshooting unexpected pfSense reboots
- Ensure all unused hardware is disabled in the systems BIOS
- Next if the reboots continue setup a remote syslog server so that if the machine is panicing it will be sent over
- If all of the above fails, backup your configuration and install the developers kernel (1.2-RC2+). Note this will slow down your firewall a bit but it is necessary to catch the panic information
- Finally if the box is simply rebooting without panicing then this is most certainly a hardware issue. Check on:
- Failing power supply
- Overheating CPU
- Overheating RAM
